Sam Russo & the Trembling Leaves + Sophie Porter + James Hull

Sam Russo

A quietly defiant and singular voice in folk and punk for decades, Sam Russo returns to Norwich for the first time in years for an intimate show at Dead Wax.

‘An artist who seems to get better and better with every release’ - Gen Handley, Rolling Stone

‘Sam is one of the most remarkable musicians that I've encountered.’ - Frank Turner

FFO: Samiam, The Weakerthans, Alkaline Trio, Bright Eyes, Lucero

Sophie Porter:

Before she was in Other Half and the pages of Rolling Stones magazine, Sophie Porter was a darling of the DIY folk-punk scene and the fastest strummer in the UK. For the first time in over a decade, she'll be playing solo again. Lucky you.

James Hull:

Part spit, part sawdust and all heart, James Hull’s songwriting sits somewhere between squat punk and Parisian café noir with a panoramic lyricism that defies classification. A compass spinning blend of grandeur and grime, his sound brings to mind those birds that mimic car alarms.

As bassist in Apologies, I Have None he’s always called himself a Londoner, but James has also fallen hard for Norwich. Since moving back to the Fine City, he’s been writing new material for an upcoming solo release - his first since 2022’s This Be The Mannekensvere.
